Václav Hollar a umění kresby / Wenceslaus Hollar and the art of drawings

Průvodce výstavou je zároveň knihou o životě Václava Hollara. Představuje tohoto významného grafika jako velkého umělce – kreslíře. Esej sleduje Hollarovy životní osudy, které se odrážely v jeho uměleckém – kreslířském vývoji. Hollarovo umění kresby lze ještě lépe pochopit v kontextu s jeho předchůdci, současníky a některými následovníky, jako byli například Peter Stevens, Joris Hoefnagel, Karel Škréta nebo Matthäus Merian, ale také Rembrandt van Rijn a další. This exhibition guide will present Hollar as a great artist within the context of his predecessors, contemporaries, and even some of his successors. It will contain essays focussing on Hollar as an etcher in relation to the art of his time, as well a reproductions of a great number of the exhibited works – the drawings of Wenceslaus Hollar and other artists, such as Roelandt Savery, Joris Hoefnagel, Karel Škréta, Friedrich Brentel, Johann Wilhelm Baur, and even works by Rembrandt van Rijn and others.
